Grow your very own fig tree variety from seed. These are seeds harvested from Black Zadar fig tree hand pollinated with a combination of LSU DC2 and DC6. Seeds grown from a persistent caprifig pollen carry a 50% chance to have the ability to fruit without pollination. Odds of female seedling are 50%.
Total odds of female fruiting without pollination are 25%. Please allow minimum of 2-3 years of growth before expecting first fruits, although it is possible to fruit earlier in life.
Fig seeds can be difficult to germinate. Our preferred method is to sow on top of the soil or lightly cover, mist the soil to seat the seeds and then cover with a humidity dome until germination occurs. Heat mats can increase germination.
